CHAPTER 6 - THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY GHOST

There are nine Gifts of the Holy Spirit named in I Cor. 12: 8 - 11. They are distinct from the five Offices of Christ mentioned in Eph. 4: 11.

6.1 METHODS OF IMPARTATION

God is sovereign, and He bestows severally as He wills. (I Cor. 12: 11). Every Gift is miraculously imparted and can be conferred in one of the three following ways:
(a) God may bestow a Gift direct to an individual by the operation of the Holy Spirit, without using any individual or any function in the Body.
(b) A Gift may be imparted by the Apostleship, apart from the revelation given by prophetical ministry. (Rom. 1: 11). See also paragraph on “IMPARTING” on chapter 9.1 (iii).
(c) A Gift may be given through an ordained prophetical channel and confirmed by the laying on of hands of the Apostleship or of the Apostleship and the Presbytery. Compare II Tim. 1: 6 with I Tim. 4: 14. It is clear from the latter passage that the Impartation of the gift was the result of revelation through prophetical ministry.
